課程透過講座、紀錄片等方式探索移民、種族和性別在東亞地區的相互交織性，特別是日本和韓國。全球化已經顯著改變了不同全球性問題的性質以及今天社會持續面臨的問題。因此，我們面臨著這樣的問題具有新的複雜挑戰。本課程將（1）探索國際組織的途徑，國家政府和非國家行為者單獨或一起為複雜的國際問題提供秩序和控制工作；（2）包括移民和各種少數群體和性別問題。

本課程將探討北美和東亞國家在國家安全和外交等多個政策部門如何實施國家戰略。本課程將在問題的立基點上分析議題並評估國際成效、探索新的潛在解決方案。這是一個雄心勃勃跨學科的課程，涵蓋北美和東亞，以檢視不同國家和地區（具體來說，國家政府，有時是地方政府）在全球化世界的背景下各個政策部門採取“國家”戰略（框架，規劃和實施項目）。不同國家和地區具體的戰略方法可以通過不同的：（1）憲法和政治結構，規範和傳統；（2）地理和地緣政治特徵，包括全球現象的具體或局部影響；（3）從外交政策到具體部門的政策--國家安全，社會政策和經濟政策。本課程要回答的關鍵問題包括：（1）國家如何確定其國家利益？他們如何按順序調動資源和能力以促進這些全國性的政策利益？ （2）國家如何處理重大公共問題，以及決策考慮和利害關係國家。在國家安全和外交等具體政策領域所產生的國際力量和動態？
